Andhra Pradesh bandh on July 19

Telugu Desam Party called for state wide bandh in Andhra Pradesh on Monday (July 19) to protest against the arrest of TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu along with MLAs and MLCs.

TDP leaders were arrested by Maharashtra police and remanded to 14-day judicial custody when they tried to visit controversial Babli project. Party leaders refused to take bail. This incident triggered wide spread anger across Andhra Pradesh.

Osmania University postponed PG counselling which is schedulled to be held on Monday.

What went wrong?

Maharashtra police made a blunder by registering case in stead of just taking into custody and releasing them after some hours. TDP leaders strategically used that opportunity by not seeking bail. It is very difficult for any Government to tackle this type of Gandhigiri.

After a long long time, TDP gained upper hand in the state.
