Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy resigns

Vivekananda Reddy resignation

Agriculture Minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy resigned. His MLC post duration was ended yesterday but failed to get re-nomination in any quota. He is the only minister in the current cabinet who is not a member in either Assembly or council. He is also acting as party leader in Legislative Council.    He faced severe criticism from all corners of the society for his alleged behaviour in Assembly on March 28. He attacked TDP MLAs Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu and Chinthamaneni Prabhakar.  He may contest from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency on Congress party ticket. He got elected to Legislative Council from Kadapa Local body in 2007.   … [Read more...]

PRP merged in Congress

PRP-Chiranjeevi-merger

Prajarajyam Party (PRP) is merged with Congress Party. According to AP Congress party in-charge, Veerappa Moily, Chiranjeevi is now a member of Congress party. What a fall!!!  Chiranjeevi also confirmed merger news at a press-meet in New Delhi after meeting Congress party president Sonia Gandhi. Chiru and Sonia discussed about merger for 2 hours.     Implications of Congress-PRP alliance:  In 2009 elections, Congress got 37% votes while PRP got 18% votes. NTV survey after 4-5 months: Congress got 35% votes while PRP got just 12% votes.  Jagan may split 10-12% of Congress votes. Can PRP compensate this loss? In politics, 2+2 can become 0 or 10. We have to closely monitor the political moves of PRP cadre.  Our view: Congress party now has 26-28% vote bank in Andhra while PRP may have around 5-6% vote bank. Is it enough?   … [Read more...]

I will retire from politics: Rayapati Sambasiva Rao

Guntur MP and Kamma leader Rayapati Smabasiva Rao decided to quit from politics permanently. He requested party leadership not to give cabinet berths to corrupt leaders like Guntur West MLA and Kapu leader Kanna Laxminarayana but high command never gave importance to his requests. But, Rayapati is not famous to stick his statements. Congress leadership never cared about his tantrums. It knew about "spineless Andhra Congress leaders" better than anyone.   Major reasons:  1. Only one Kamma found place in Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet.  2. His rival Kanna Laxminarayana got cabinet berth.  3. He failed to get a cabinet berth for his brother.  Rayapati has strong influence over Kamma community in Guntur district but Congress party neglected that community and favoured Kapu and Reddy communities which are its traditional vote banks.  We have to see whether Rayapati brothers will join either YSR Congress or Telugu Desam or continue in Congress? … [Read more...]

Ambati Rambabu suspended

Congress Party suspended PCC secretary, Ambati Rambabu. Ambati Rambabu is a close associate of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. This suspension may trigger the formation of YSR Congress Party in the state. Suspension comes into effect immediately. Rambabu is suspended from party after his comments on Andhra Pradesh chief minister K. Rosaiah. He first received show cause notice but he continued to make irresponsible comments. This is the first action by Congress party on Jagan supporters. According to the response by Jagan's camp, more disciplinary actions may follow. We have to see how Jagan will react to this direct action on his close aide. This is a huge shock to Jagan's camp after Veerappa Moiley's yesterday's statement (no action on Jagan). Congress Party will officially announce this suspension on Sunday.  Note: In 1995, Chandrababu Naidu revolted against NTR when Telugu Desam party decided to suspend his close associate, Y. Madhav Reddy. Can Jagan act in a similar way?    … [Read more...]

Chandrababu Naidu arrested at Maharashtra border

Telugu Desam President, Nara Chandrababu Naidu has been arrested at Dharmaram village on Andhra-Maharashtra border. He is arrested by Maharashtra police when he tried to visit controversial Babli project. TDP leaders were taken to Dharmabad ITI in Naded district. One should appreciate Nanded SP for managing the tense situation in a cool manner.  TDP president started his "Babli bus journey" from Assembly Bhavan in Hyderabad and reached Dhrmaram village (Andhra-Maharashtra border) by 1:30 PM. He tried to cross border at around 2:15 PM but Maharashtra police denied permission. He sat on the road for 1 hour and police finally arrested Chandrababu Naidu at 3:23 PM. Traffic was disrupted and high tension atmosphere was prevailed in the Andhra-Maharashtra border since morning. Many TDP leaders like P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Devender Goud, E. Dayakar Rao, M. Narsimhulu, Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy, Nama Nageswara Rao, P. Ramulu and Venugopala Chari etc. also participated in the Yatra. Nagam Janardhan Reddy is conspicuous by his absence. Most of the Telugu Desam MLAs participated in the Yatra.  Comment: Babli bus Yatra is the best political move by TDP president after a long time. In one shot, he visited Telangana area without any problem and also succeeded in gaining political mileage. TDP candidates are struggling in many segments in the by-elections due to strong Telangana segment. But, this bus yatra may partially help TDP candidates in Sirpur, Mancherial and Chennur Assembly by-elections in Adilabad district where Telugu Desam party has strong base.  … [Read more...]
