Andhra cyclone (Laila) update – 3
Laila Cyclone is now located at just 70 Nautical Miles (130 kilometers) east-northeast of Chennai. It moved 10 kms in north-west direction in last 6 hours. Maximum wave height will be around 15 feet. Political effect: Congress party post-poned "Punarankitha Sabha" due to "Laila" cyclone and asked cadre to participate in cyclone assistance and rehalitation programmes. According to NASA, this cyclone was formed as a low depression centre on May 17. It was intensified in last 2 days to become a cyclone. According to a study done by National Remote Sensing Agency (Balanagar, Hyderabad), very few cyclones crossed Ongole and Vizag coasts. Landfall of most cyclones is in Nellore, krishna and Godavari districts (Pennar, krishna and Godavari rivers). As per study, severe storms mostly originated in November and May. Andhra cyclone update
Laila cyclone is now located at 400 kms east of Chennai and 500 kms of Vizag. Low pressure area formed in Bay of Bengal on Monday is now turned into Cyclone and is expected to cross Andhra coast between Ongole and Vizag on Thursday as per latest weather reports. As per weather reports, this is the biggest cyclone in Andhra history in last 13 years. Strong winds with a speed of 70-80 kms per hour may cause heavy losses in coastal areas from today night. Cyclone is expected to move in north-west direction. When cyclone crosses coast, 20-25 cm rainfall and 70-100 km per hour wind speeds are expected along and off coastal area in Andhra Pradesh. Alert: Cyclones generally move with a speed of 10 kms per hour but Laila is moving with a speed of 20kmph Laila cyclone Category: 1 Maximum speed during crossing: 110-120 kmph Likely crossing target: Machilipatnam-Kakinada Advice and warning: Fishermen are warned against venturing into the sea for next 2 days and people residing in low lying areas are advised to vacate and reach safer places as early as possible. Number 6 and 7 cautionary alerts hoisted at all ports in Andhra Pradesh. It is raining in most of the places in Andhra Pradesh and heavy rains are expected for next 2-3 days. Officials are kept in alert in all nine districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and control rooms are setup with helpline numbers in all coastal district headquarters. Eenadu is number one Telugu Newspaper
According to latest readership survey (IRS 2000, first quarter), Eenadu is number one Telugu daily with a readership of 1 crore and 47 lakhs and is in ninth place in India. Sakshi is number two telugu newspaper with a readership of 1 crore and 29 lakhs. There seems to be heavy competition between Eenadu and Sakshi. Eenadu is in fifth place in India among regional daily news papers. Eenadu is still behind Tamil newapapers, Daily Thanthi and Dinakaran. YSR helicopter crashed?
No information about Andhra Pradesh CM, YSR whereabouts even after 23 hours despite extenstive search with Shkhoi and ISRO aircrafts. As a human being, everyone wants "safe return of YSR" but if you think rationally, such chances are almost nil. According to sources, there are signs of oil in the in the back waters of Krishna river at Sivaganga area (20-25 km from Sreesailam dam). Helicopter might have been crashed in that region when pilot tried to return to Hyderabad from Atmakur area. What might have been happened? 1. Officers requested YSR not to travel in bad weather on the morning of Wednesday. But, YSR decided to visit villages as it was the first day of prestigious "Racchabanda Programme." 2. After travelling 60 Natican Miles (110 km), CM Helicopter lost contact with Air Traffic Controller in Hyderabad. 3. ATCs of Bangalore and Chennai tried to get in touch with YSR helicopter but they failed to establish contact. 4. Pilot sent message for the last time at 9:10 AM when it was flying in between "Atmakur and Bandi Atmakur" in Kurnool district. His message " We are confronted with bad weather. In stead of going forward, we are deviating to east (Ongole)." 5. Helicopter might have beed crashed in Krishna river after hitting some hill due to lack of visibility/ some thunderstorm might have been responsible for the crash of the helicopter. Andhra Pradesh CM YSR is missing
Helicopter in which Andhra Pradesh chief minister, Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy is travelling has lost contact with Air controller in Hyderabad since 9:32 AM. YSR is scheduled to participate in "Racchabanda programme" in Chittoor district. Bell 430 helicopter in which YSR is travelling went missing at around Atmakur in Kurnool district. There are 8 mobiles with people in Helicopter but none of them are receiving any signals despite BSNL has already increased the frequency of towers in that area. 12 helicopters are searching across "Nallamala forest" to locate Andhra Pradesh chief minister. Andhra Pradesh government requested people in that region to search entire forest area. Police and forest department people are searching for chief minister for the last 8 hours (since 9:32 am).
