Telugu Desam party Bandh in Andhra Pradesh

  Telugu Desam Party Bandh is peaceful across Andhra Pradesh barring minor incidents. TDP called for Bandh after its president Nara Chandrababu Naidu was arrested by Police in the early morning but Naidu continuing his hunger strike even in the hospital by refusing medication. Schools, Offices and shops remain closed till evening in most parts of the state. Normal life was hit and people faced inconveneince as many do not know about Bandh call till 6 AM in the morning. High impact of Bandh was seen in many Coastal distircts where farmers suffered heavy losses due to rains. Bandh was successful in Khammam and Nalgonda districts also where traffic was severely disrupted.  Bandh revitalised Telugu Desam cadre in North Telangana districts especially in Nizamabad. CPI, CPM and MRPS also supported TDP Bandh. Nagarjuna University postponed exams.  National leader Ajit Singh, MPRS leader Manda Krishna and Jammu Kashmir Panther party leader Bhim Singh visited NIMS and consoled Babu. Health Minister D.L. Ravindra Reddy also requested Chandrababu Naidu to call off fasting due to his deteriorating health condition.  Chandrababu Naidu's indefinite hunger strike helped in revitalising TDP in the state and third front at centre. Chandrababu Naidu reached Hyderabad

  TDP President, Nara Chandrababu Naidu reached Hyderabad along with party MLAs and MPs from Aurangabad. Earlier, Maharashtra Government has withdrawn all cases against Telugu Desam leaders.  Party activists gave grand welcome to party leaders at the Shamshabad airport.  In the morning, Maharashtra government acted brutally against TDP legislators and had taken them from Dharmabad to Aurangabad. After receiving heavy criticism from all quarters, Maharashtra government has withdrawn all the cases against Telugu Desam party leaders and forcefully deported them from Aurangabad to Hyderabad.  This is the black day in the Indian democratic history. Maharashtra police even manhandled on Telugu Desam legislators including women MLAs. There is widespread anger against Maharashtra government and chief minister S.B. Andhra Pradesh bandh on July 19

  Telugu Desam Party called for state wide bandh in Andhra Pradesh on Monday (July 19) to protest against the arrest of TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu along with MLAs and MLCs.  TDP leaders were arrested by Maharashtra police and remanded to 14-day judicial custody when they tried to visit controversial Babli project. Party leaders refused to take bail. This incident triggered wide spread anger across Andhra Pradesh.  Osmania University postponed PG counselling which is schedulled to be held on Monday.  What went wrong?  Maharashtra police made a blunder by registering case in stead of just taking into custody and releasing them after some hours. TDP leaders strategically used that opportunity by not seeking bail. Judicial custody for Chandrababu Naidu

  Telugu Desam party president, Chandrababu Naidu and other party leaders remanded to 14-day Judicial custody as they refused to take bail. But, they will be kept in Dharmabad ITI for 2 more days. Chandrababu Naidu should be kept in A+ jail as he is under Z+ category security. Maharashtra has just 2 A+ category jails (Pune & Aurangabad). This incident created high tense atmosphere in both Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Telugu Desam activists conducted agitations across the state.  Significance: Master stroke by TDP president before Telangana by-elections. TDP which was in third place in many segments suddenly came into limelight. This incident will help TDP to regain cadre base and fight hard in the by-elections. Chandrababu Naidu arrested at Maharashtra border

  Telugu Desam President, Nara Chandrababu Naidu has been arrested at Dharmaram village on Andhra-Maharashtra border. He is arrested by Maharashtra police when he tried to visit controversial Babli project. TDP leaders were taken to Dharmabad ITI in Naded district. One should appreciate Nanded SP for managing the tense situation in a cool manner.  TDP president started his "Babli bus journey" from Assembly Bhavan in Hyderabad and reached Dhrmaram village (Andhra-Maharashtra border) by 1:30 PM. He tried to cross border at around 2:15 PM but Maharashtra police denied permission. He sat on the road for 1 hour and police finally arrested Chandrababu Naidu at 3:23 PM. Traffic was disrupted and high tension atmosphere was prevailed in the Andhra-Maharashtra border since morning. Many TDP leaders like P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Devender Goud, E. Dayakar Rao, M. Narsimhulu, Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy, Nama Nageswara Rao, P. Ramulu and Venugopala Chari etc. also participated in the Yatra. Nagam Janardhan Reddy is conspicuous by his absence. Most of the Telugu Desam MLAs participated in the Yatra.  Comment: Babli bus Yatra is the best political move by TDP president after a long time. In one shot, he visited Telangana area without any problem and also succeeded in gaining political mileage. TDP candidates are struggling in many segments in the by-elections due to strong Telangana segment. But, this bus yatra may partially help TDP candidates in Sirpur, Mancherial and Chennur Assembly by-elections in Adilabad district where Telugu Desam party has strong base.  … [Read more...]
